Community planning: Policy & Law: The Leipzig Charter

Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities
adopted by the informal meeting of the Council of Ministers in Leipzig on 24 May 2007.

Two key aspects:

  1. Making greater use of integrated urban development policy approaches
The involvement of economic actors, stakeholders and the general public is essential.

  2. That special attention is paid to deprived neighborhoods within the context of the city as a whole.
Active involvement of the residents and a better dialogue between the political representatives, the residents and the economic actors is essential to find the best solution for each deprived urban area.

  3. The full Leipzig charter
